In 2007, the Champagne PRIN Père & Fils grape harvest began at the end of August - three weeks ahead of the usual timetable.
Without doubt the exceptional weather in April – practically 30 days of unbroken good weather – is the reason the grape harvest was so early.
In spite of a gloomy summer that was characterised by a great deal of rain, the vines continued to develop, reaching maturity at different times in different parcels.
A complicated year when, in order to obtain optimum maturity, observation and rigour were of prime importance in the choice of parcels to be picked.
In spite of the vagaries of the weather, Mother Nature gave us a well balanced, good quality harvest.
Now we will give the wine the time to develop before discovering whether or not 2007 will be a vintage year.
